Man dip

Last week I realized how important spare parts are. I work as a technician in a company that has its own server room and I am the person who is responsible for all the repair works. This week we had some problems with the connection to our data base and I was asked to check what was going on. In such case it is difficult to find the source of the defect quickly so it took me some time before I realized what was the cause of it. One of the server racks was totally wet and rusted from the inside. There was water all over it as if somebody spilt water on it. The equipment we have in our company is a little bit old and when one of the servers is shut down then the whole system is not working. I was asked to quickly replace the rusted elements as fast as I could but then I found out that we have no spare rack accessories. To be honest it is my duty to equip the storage with all the necessary parts so I was a little bit confused that I did not remember that we were missing some rack accessories. I had to work fast so I decided to buy the necessary parts in the local computer shop. I did the repairs the same day and everything ended up good for me and for the company. Now I know that I should always check the availability of the spare parts in our storage room to not repeat a situation like this.
